The pieces of my life

Psalm 5:3 (TPT)

At each and every sunrise you will hear my voice as I prepare my sacrifice of prayer to you.  Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on the altar and wait for your fire to fall upon my heart.

The pieces of my life.  That about sums it up.  The various roles, tasks, ministries and life I live between two continents, between the two worlds of this one and the one to come.  My life does sometimes feel like it is composed of many bits and pieces.  Yet here in the Word penned so long ago, the Psalmist encourages me to pick up the pieces, the shards, the blocks of my life and to daily, intentionally, purposefully place them on a altar before you.  Here they are, Lord.  All of it.  The good, the bad, the ugly.  And as I wait, and sometimes wait some more, eventually your fire from heaven will come down, burn up the dross of the pieces of my life ineptly lived and purify all the rest.  And my life becomes a thing of beauty, refined by your consuming fire.

So here is my promise, my heart desire - to come at each and every sunrise, as I rise from my bed and prepare for you a sacrifice of prayer in which I offer myself again and again on an altar, waiting for your fire to come once more.
